What happens when you try tapping, and it doesn't feel like it's doing anything? Isn't it supposed to work? What gives?
Tapping should work for just about everyone, so if you've tried it and didn't feel like it was working, you may just need some simple tweaks. (You're not broken, promise!) Here are 4 reasons why tapping didn't work and how to fix them:
1. You only tapped for the symptom, not the problem.
Tapping can give you short term relief for things like anxiety and stress, but it'll work like a band-aid and the symptoms will return. In order to clear the symptoms, you'll need to get to the root of the problem and tap to clear that.
2. There are more limiting beliefs you need to clear.
Sometimes there are many limiting beliefs connected to a problem. I see this a lot when working with clients on money mindset. If you only cleared one limiting belief while tapping, but have others that are causing the same issue, you'll need to clear them all before the issue will resolve.
3. You need more tools to move forward.
You may have cleared a block but are left wondering "now what?" so you stay stuck. In order to move forward and make real change, you might need more tools like new skills, further education, the ability to see yourself in a new way, or a clear vision to work towards.
4. It actually is working!
Sometimes when tapping you'll feel an immediate shift, but not always. You might just need to give your body more time to integrate the healing and clearing that took place during tapping. For a few days following your tapping session, bring your awareness to the emotional triggers and beliefs that you tapped on, and you'll probably notice that they start feeling lighter or no longer bother you at all! Sometimes EFT results can be sneaky. ;)
